»Beyond visible contents« is based on a re-performance of two photographies by Yiannis Stylianou taken at Thessaloniki's public space. Stylianou's pictures show a sequence of a gathering and are part of the Museum of Photography Thessaloniki's archive.

In front of the Expo-area, where the Thessaloniki International Fair takes place every year – accompanied by demonstrations –, Stylianou's photographies are re-staged and -performed by participants of the »Walking through … Thessaloniki/Vienna«-group.

Picking photographs by Stylianou and re-staging them is used as a method approaching unaccustomed, unknown topics. The idea of making differences and difficulties visible by referring to an older happening and transferring it into contemporary social relations wants to put an eye on how groups function through interaction within certain structures and invokes an historical event by the gesture of a contemporary intervening: that leads to the opportunity of establishing a space of possibilities wherein historical and current issues may be negotiated. At the same time the work's realization acts as some kind of archive: by documenting its references and emergences.
